Munneswaram Temple - Munneswaram Temple is the Place where King Rama prayed to Shiva after committing the worst crime named Brahmahasti. God Shiva blessed Lord Rama and advised him to install and pray four lingams at 5 places to get rid of doshas. One of the important Ramayana tour sites in Sri Lanka.
Manavari Temple - Manavari Temple is the first place where Lord Rama installed and prayed the Siva lingam. At present this lingam at Manavari temple is named Ramalingam as this lingam was erected by Rama. Both Munneswaram Temple & Manavari Templs are very important Ramayana tour places
Day 2 - Way to Jaffna

Anuradhapura is the first capital of Sri Lanka located in north central province of Sri Lanka. It is one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka which was the center of Theravada Buddhism for many centuries. Due to its ruins of an ancient Sri Lankan civilization UNESCO named it as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982 under the name of Sacred City of Anuradhapura.
Day 3 - Jaffna
- Visit Jaffna Ramayana trail-related temples and important Hindu Temples / cultural sites.
- Visit Nallur Kandaswamy Temple, Jaffna / Naguleswaram Temple / Keerimalai Jaffna / Jaffna Public Library / Nilavarai well

Nallur Kandaswamy Temple Jaffna is one of the important places Sri Lanka Ramayana tour itinerary dedicated to Lord Murugan in the form of the divine spear Vel, which is considered a well-known symbol of Tamil religiousness.
Day 4 - Trincomalee

Thirukoneswaram Kovil - Trincomalee is believed to have been built by sage Agasthyar as per the instructions of Lord Shiva who was impressed by the devotion of King Ravana. This place has the uniqueness of the lord building a temple for his devotees as a reward for his devotion.
Day 5 - Trincomalee

Ravana Abyss - Located next to Koneswaram Kovil there are stories about legendary king Ravana's relationship with this place. It's believed that the gap between mountains was created by King Ravana with his Sword, as he was trying to bring the whole Shiva temple (mountain) to his home for his mother Standing on a cliff face overlooking the ocean is a Ravana statue at the Hindu Koneswaram Temple at Trincomalee on the east coast of Sri Lanka. It is believed Hindu temples on this site were established as early as 205 BC although the Koneswaram temple is dated from around 400AD.
Day 6 - Dambulla & Kandy

Kandy - An exotic city, the Hill Capital and last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site encircled by hills, with a tranquil lake in its center / Sacred Tooth Relic Temple / Royal Botanical garden.
Dambulla - Dambulla cave temple also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka. Largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka.
Day 7 - Kandy
- Kandy sightseeing city tour

- Royal Botanic Gardens Kandy
- Leisure in Kandy Hotel
- Enjoy the cultural show in Kandy (Daily 5.30 PM) (Suggested & Optional)
This is our leisure day during Sri Lanka Ramayana Tour Packages of 8 days and we stay 2 nights in Kandy with some leisure hours. Recommend to spend 1 hour in Royal Botanic Gardens Kandy.
Day 8 - Nuwara Eliya
- Transfer to Nuwara Eliya (2 Hrs)
- Enroot, Ramboda visit Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple / Ramboda Waterfall
- Proceed towards Nuwara Eliya
- Sightseeing at Nuwara Eliya
- Dinner & overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya
Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple – Believed that Hanuman was searching for Sita Devi from a place called “Ravana Goda” close to this Bhakta Hanuman Temple. Key Ramayana site in Sri Lanka
Day 9 - Nuwara Eliya, Ella & Kataragama
- Visit Sita Amman Temple and Ashoka Vatika (Now this is converted as Hakgala Botnic Gardens) in Nuwara Eliya
- Transfer to Kataragama (4 Hrs)
- Enroot visit Divurumpola Buddhist Temple / Ravana Water Falls / Ravana Caves (This is not possible for senior citizens)
- Reach Kataragama
- Dinner & overnight in Kataragama
Divurumpola Temple - Divurumpola Buddhist Temple Place where Sita underwent the famous fire ordeal Agni Pariksha to prove her chastity to God Rama after being rescued by him where she came unscathed and proved her innocence and purity. One of the important Ramayana yatra Sri Lanka-related sites.
Sita Amman Temple area – The Sita Amman Temple area is the only Hindu Temple dedicated to Princess Sita in Sri Lanka. Believed that the Sita Devi was kept captive at this site by King Ravana
Day 10 - Kataragama & Galle
- Visit Kataragama Temple
- Leave to Galle
- Visit Ussangoda Ramayana Site (Ussangoda National Park)
- Reach Galle and visit Rumassala Sanjeevani mountain
- Visit Galle Dutch Fort (UNESCO World Heritage)
- Overnight stay in Galle
Kataragama - Kataragama temple dedicated to the God Skanda
Ussanggoda - Ussanggoda Ramayana Site is one of the torched areas, It is believed that Ussangoda during the time of Ramayana, King Ravana used this flat hard land to travel on his Pushpak Vimana.
Day 11 - Colombo
- Leave for Colombo
- Visit Sri Anjaneyar Temple & Kelaniya Vibhishana Temple
- Explore Colombo on the city tour
- Dinner & overnight stay in Colombo
Sri Anjaneyar Temple – The First Anjaneyar Temple in Sri Lanka dedicated to Lord Hanuman in his Panchamuga form, meaning five faces. Panchamuga Anjaneyar Temple in Colombo is one of the important Ramayana-related Hindu temples in Colombo.
Kelaniya Vibhishana Temple (Buddhist Temple) - Ramayana states that after the death of King Ravana, King Vibhishana was crowned by Lakshmana. So Kelaniya Vibhishana Temple is the place which had been ruled by Vibhishana. This is the last Ramayana related we visited during this 9-day Ramayana Tour in Sri Lanka.
Day 12 - Departure
- After breakfast at the hotel proceed to the airport

Personally, I prefer tours that are more fast-paced and cover a wider range of activities. This tour\’s focus on cultural immersion is great, but I\’d like a bit more variety.
